Mrs Dunkley

English Teacher

Interests and Hobbies:

I love being outside and exploring the wonderful part of the country that we live in. I can often be found on my bike or running outdoors as I am quite an active person. I have undertaken quite a few running races in the past, either on road or trail and I have also done the odd triathlon, however the social elements of running or cycling with friends is always my favourite part. There is nothing better than a bike ride with friends, especially if it involves a café stop and cake! I love to read and when I get to enjoy a rare moment of peace and quiet in our busy home it is always with a book. I live with my husband, two daughters and our cheeky cat called Prince. Life in our house is very busy as we are all quite sporty, with cycling being very central to our family life, however we also like to go on long family walks exploring and seeing new things.

My favourite meal is bangers and mash! Plus, I love a huge roast dinner and all the trimmings with my family.

I dislike carrots, bad manners and people being disrespectful.

During lockdown I have been able to spend a lot more time cycling with my two daughters and catching up on Netflix series. I have also become quite green fingered, spending a lot of time in my garden which I never normally get chance to do.

Curriculum Leader of Mathematics

Interests and Hobbies:

I have always been keen to stay fit and get the best out of myself physically. When I was younger I lived and played football week-in, week-out; but now I am a keen cyclist. I typically cycle 7000+ miles per year all over the Dales, North York Moors, North Pennines and the Lakes: I love the big steep hill climbs. I also run once per week: typically 5k or 10k to compliment my cycling and use muscles in different ways. When I am not training I walk the dog with my family and maintain my house and garden: but it has to be said school work takes up a huge amount of time at home.

I have many favourite meals depending on my mood, the time of year and the amount of training I have been doing. Typically I like steak chips and peas with peppercorn sauce, all hot curries, barbecue, fish and chips, Big Mac Meal (large), shepherd’s pie, lasagne, shredded Peking duck...there are so many I can’t chose one!

I dislike social media, traffic, queuing and moaning.

During lockdown of my time has been spent setting work for school pupils and responding to pupils who have questions. But, aside from that, I have managed to continue with my cycling, running and dog-walking throughout lockdown (and it was a real blessing that the sun was able to shine for so long -so I include sunbathing in this list).

Mr Rhodes

Modern Foreign language Teacher

Interests and Hobbies:

I am keen distance runner; I try to get out most days and enter as many events as I can. I also like travelling, having travelled quite a lot in South America in recent years. Whenever I get the time I like to read, particularly books on travel. As well as this I enjoy cooking and spending as much time as I can with my family.

My favourite meal is Paella.

I dislike heights – easily my biggest fear.

During lockdown I’ve been running most days, have been on lots of walks with my three-year-old daughter and have tried to teach myself some Portuguese with mixed success.

RE Teacher

Interests and Hobbies:

I love to travel and visit new places with lots of history for me to explore! My favourite city will always be Rome – I got engaged there last year! I enjoy baking, especially anything lemon or chocolate flavoured. I support Liverpool FC.

My favourite meal is my mum’s Sunday dinners.

I dislike being late, moths and swimming in the sea.

During lockdown I have realised that my house needs a lot more decorating than I thought! I have spent a lot of hours on FaceTime to my family, especially to my 2-year-old niece Phoebe who likes to put the phone in the cupboard and check on me every few minutes. I think she thinks I have abandoned her, so that is how she punishes me!
