The mentoring scheme offers an additional level of support for students who have not yet reached their potential. Although some students are added to the mentoring scheme earlier on in their school career the majority of students requiring additional support are assigned a mentor to help them through their final year at school. Mentors work with students to improve their time managment, encourage a positive attitude to study and to develop strategies to help them deal with challenges; skills that will help them through school and beyond.
The mentors work with 3 to 4 students on a 1 to 1 basis using feedback from the students teachers and the individuals to develop strategies for improvement. the mentoring scheme runs alongside a rigorous revision and intervention programme set to help the students in year 11 as they approach their GCSEs.
