Technology

The Technology Departmentis staffed by an enthusiastic, dedicated, and specialist team.

Our aim is to enable each pupil to be the best that they can be so they can fulfil their potential.

Technology is taught in a suite of purpose built and well resourced and equipped rooms. Including CAD/ CAM in the form of a state of the art laser cutter, an industrial styled kitchen, computerised sewing machines, industrial overlockers, a CAD/CAM sewing machine, Arc welding and a heat treatment area.

 Subjects taught at Key Stage 3  
Cooking and Nutrition
Product Design

Baseline assessment tasks are undertaken in each subject area and Aspirational targets are set. Students are taught new skills, processes and techniques, health and safety procedures so they, are equipped to take on new challenges and make informed decisions as they work through Focused Practical tasks, and Design and Make Tasks in each area. Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 are taught in four mixed ability groups.

 Subjects offered at G.C.S.E

Food Preparation and Nutrition (AQA)
Product Design (AQA),
Hospitality and Catering (WJEC) discontinued after 2017 exam 

All subjects are popular at GCSE and we have an excellent record of success at examination level.

 G.C.S.E Assessment  

50% Controlled Assessment (formerly known as coursework)
50% Written paper.

 Students are encouraged to be creative, innovative and independent problem solvers when working through the design process and making quality products.
